Welcome to The Post

Welcome to The Post

Every writer needs a harbor — and for me, the Facebook groups just weren’t cutting it. As an up-and-coming writer, I wanted a home where ideas flow and the craft still feels like it matters. That’s why I started Pelican Sail Press.

The Post is where you can doom-scroll your way through the day without losing the motivation to write.

It’s the corner of the internet where you can catch up on industry trends, read the gossip about the latest releases, pick up a few solid tips, and get just enough encouragement to keep your momentum going.

Why This Space Exists

Too many writers get buried under scattered advice, fleeting trends, and “articles” that are really just seven ads with a video slapped on top. This will never be that place. Think of it like a social platform built specifically for our kind of people — the ones who’d rather discuss ISBNs over brunch than make small talk about the weather.

Why are ISBNs so complicated in the first place?

What You’ll Find Here

Here’s what you can expect: updates on self-publishing platforms like KDP and IngramSpark (contract changes, royalties, tools, etc.), news about industry shifts, practical writing advice, behind-the-scenes glimpses into Pelican Sail Press, marketing strategies, curated reading lists, and more.

The Inner Circle

If you want to go deeper, there’s The Inner Circle. That’s where I share the extras — early access to articles, exclusive tools and templates, downloadable resources, creative challenges, and a place to connect with other writers figuring it out alongside you.

It’s like the kitchen at a dinner party: quieter, warmer, and where the real conversations happen.

Our Belief

Pelican Sail Press was built on the belief that writing isn’t just putting words on a page — it’s building a creative life you’re proud of. And if that means occasionally ignoring your word count to reorganize your bookshelves by color, I won’t judge.

A Note Before You Go

If that sounds like your kind of space — welcome. Stay awhile. Browse, read, take what you need. Sign up for our newsletter so you never miss a post worth reading (I promise I won’t spam you) — and when you’re ready, join the conversation. I’m so glad you’re here.

With love,
Melissa Renee
